“Kelley Washington keeps entering Philadelphia Eagles conversations because of his special teams talents.
But if he keeps snaring passes the way he did Monday morning during preseason camp at Lehigh University, Washington’s chances to catch on with the Eagles will increase dramatically.
Washington earned loud cheers from the crowd several times during morning drills.
He made a diving, finger-tip reception of a Mike Kafka throw across the middle.
In full stride, he hauled in a Kafka throw that covered about 60 yards after getting a step on safety Macho Harris.
Washington then went high to bring in a Kevin Kolb chuck with cornerback Geoff Pope attached.
“The biggest thing for me is trying to pick up a little thing every day,” Washington said afterward. “I’m so far behind in the system. I’m just trying to learn a new system and learn a new team. I’m just trying to come out, when we do our individual work, catch the ball and show the ability is there. Stay consistent and catch the ball. That’s really all you can do at this point.””
