Jeremy Maclin went down hard and was seen holding his left knee while practicing at Eagles training camp Tuesday afternoon.

He had to be assisted to the cart and taken to the locker room.   Practice ended early by about a half hour.  Silence reigned while Maclin was taken away.

A significant injury to Maclin would be a major setback for a very young offense.  The team has quality depth with Jason Avant, veteran Hank Baskett, popular rookie Riley Cooper, and new addition Kelley Washington, but the subtraction of the dynamic Maclin would be a terrible loss.

Star DeSean Jackson’s back injury now looks like an even bigger concern.

UPDATE:  word is going around that it is a hyperextended left knee.  More info should be available on Wednesday.  Fingers crossed, Eagles fans.

Thanks to PSC’s own Mike Prince for on-site reporting at Eagles camp.
