“Mike McGlynn didn’t say exactly what was on his mind Friday night.
But his wry smile said plenty.
Less than an hour after McGlynn’s successful debut had drawn praise from coach Andy Reid and his teammates, the third-year center was asked if he’d be OK as the backup if starter Jamaal Jackson made a healthy return by the season opener.
“We’ll see what happens,” McGlynn said. Then he cracked the giveaway smile — the one that suggested quite overtly that McGlynn doesn’t view himself as anyone’s backup.
With McGlynn manning the middle, quarterback Kevin Kolb and the first offense moved the ball efficiently in the first quarter of the Eagles’ 28-27 preseason win Friday night over the Jacksonville Jaguars at Lincoln Financial Field.”
