PSC Poll: when do the eagles win a super bowl?
[Editor’s note: check out PSC’s rolling Giants-Patriots Super Bowl discussion thread. It’s puke-worthy.]
A team with two superbowl titles within four years of each other or a coach with the best won-loss record in team history? It’s a simple question my friends and it really hits home, doesn’t it?
Not just going by their 9-7 record but talent wise as well? Also has the value of the Super Bowl dropped? Over the last seven years we have probably had some of the worst super bowl teams ever, and the record of the last two winners is a combine 19-13.
Correct me if I’m wrong, but when the NYG had 12 men on the field, the Pats didn’t get any time put back on the clock in the final minute, did they? If not, it’s an obvious defensive advantage and a small risk to give the other team only five yards while having more players in coverage and decreasing the offense’s odds of getting down field. That play turned out to be something like a very important 7-10 seconds or so taken off the clock and actually hurt New England in the long run. A team on defense and in the situation which the Giants were in tonight could actually do that as a strategy, correct? Not a preferred one to most, but it’s still a possibility, whether risky or not.
If I read that play wrong, then my apologies and please correct me, but from what I remember, it just made it even harder on NE. Anyway, moving forward, if they do look at that, you’d have to think it would be a five-yard penalty plus the time goes back on the clock. Or something like that. When Wisconsin and Bielema kept going offsides on kickoffs several years ago to keep taking time off the clock, that was just yet another ‘loop hole’ and picked up on and changed right away, as one semi-similar example of using a penalty to take time off the clock while barely hurting your own team’s situation.
