By Justin Adkins:
Per Twitter et al, Flyers head coach Peter Laviolette has decided to start Brian Boucher tonight in goal for Game 3.
Even more intriguing than that is he has also decided to put Michael Leighton on the bench in reserve, with Sergei Bobrovsky apparently encouraged to take some time to think about his abysmal Game 2 performance. Nothing official has been announced, but all signs point to this being the case per the beat writers.
In Game 2, Boucher came in for a highly ineffective Bobrovsky, the former playing very well and preserving a Flyers victory in a must-win game.
In addition to the goalie juggling, Laviolette is being forced to manipulate his lines, with Andreas Nodl sitting out due to a laceration above his eye that got infected. The injury opens the door for the much-maligned Nik Zherdev to finally get back on the ice, where hopefully he can step up his effort and live up to his talent level.
Chris Pronger is also out as he continues to battle a hand injury. It’s a coin flip right now on whether he plays in Game 4.
No word yet on the missing persons report issued for Jeff Carter.
