For two days the Flyers kicked around the idea of sending restricted free agent Steven Stamkos an offer sheet that would have made him the richest player in club history.  But after much debate and exhaustive numbers crunching — not to mention the possible ramifications when James van Riemsdyk enters similar territory next summer — the Flyers opted out of the Stamkos sweepstakes and set their sights on today’s noon start of free agency.
