“Have you ever had “one of those days?”

One of those days when you oversleep, skip breakfast, arrive at work late and miss the first five minutes of an important meeting.

Or one of those days when youa plate in the morning, stub your toe in the afternoon and back your car into your mailbox in the evening.

You know, one of those days?

Well, the Phillies may be having one of those seasons.

They started the year without starting pitcher Joe Blanton and relievers Brad Lidge and J.C. Romero. Then, shortstop Jimmy Rollins, starter J.A. Happ and reliever Ryan Madson made their way onto the disabled list before the end of April.

In May, the Phillies lost backup catcher Brian Schneider and, for the second time, Lidge and Rollins.

By the end of July, relievers Antonio Bastardo and Chad Durbin, catcher Carlos Ruiz, second baseman Chase Utley and outfielder Shane Victorino had also spent time on the DL. Not to mention the fact that starter Jamie Moyer was lost for the season.

And now, as August gets going, first baseman Ryan Howard has joined Utley and Victorino as the team’s most vital cogs on the DL. What else could go wrong in the injury category?”
