PHILADELPHIA (AP) Derek Lowe knew he wasn’t going to last long enough to finish a no-hitter.

The sinkerballer was pulled due to a blister on his right foot after allowing his first two hits in the seventh inning, but the Atlanta Braves overcame Cliff Lee’s 16 strikeouts to beat the Philadelphia Phillies 5-0 on Friday night for their sixth straight victory.

Lingering back problem sends Oswalt to the disabled list

“All along, Roy Oswalt has been trying to look on the bright side. When his back bothered him during his start against the Marlins on April 15, he didn’t think it was a big deal. When there was still stiffness during his next start at San Diego, he didn’t mention it. When he was KO’d early in his next outing at Arizona, the official party line was that his back wasn’t a factor.

He’ll play in an extended spring game tomorrow, and slowly begin the process to returning to the Phillies.
