No run support? No big deal to Oswalt

June 8 Camden Courier-Post:

The wicked winds of change Roy Oswalt felt a couple months ago and also last year shook his world to the very core.  So, this recent change of fortune for the Phillies’ right-hander on the mound really is nothing. Another loss Tuesday night truly pales in comparison when you consider his three young daughters raced for their lives in the middle of the night down a street in Weir, Miss., when deadly tornadoes struck in April.

Phillies day 2 draft analysis

June 8 CSN Philly:

Second Round  Roman Quinn, IF/OF, Port St. Joseph High School (Fla.)  Quinn has a slight frame (5-foot-9, 165 pounds) but he has speed and is a solid line-drive hitter. He has some power, which could develop as he fills out. Quinn could also become a stronger infielder as well because he has a big-time arm though his incredible speed would suggest he is better suited for center field. He was chosen with the compensation pick Philadelphia received for Jason Werth signing with Washington.

Rollins clearly wants no part of disabled list

June 8 Allentown Morning Call:

Jimmy Rollins wanted no part in making a prediction about when his knee would be feeling well enough to have him back in the lineup.”You guys speculate. I don’t,” the Phillies shortstop said to reporters.  The days of making predictions have seemingly come and gone for the veteran switch-hitter.

Manuel calls a team meeting

June 8 Allentown Morning Call:

The Phillies have a team meeting scheduled for 3:45 p.m. Friday.  After Tuesday’s game, maybe Charlie Manuel should bump it up a day or two.  “We didn’t deserve to win the game,” he said. “We didn’t play good.”  He’s being kind.  The Phillies played really poorly.

Nothing works for Phillies

June 8 Camden Courier-Post:

The Phillies threatened for three innings Tuesday, scoring one run and putting themselves in position for more, but stranded seven runners.  Then, they couldn’t even do that much.  The Phillies did manage to score one more run on Chase Utley’s eighth-inning triple — his first three-base hit since returning two weeks ago from his knee injury —
