Nix’s game-saving diving catch sinks Phillies

June 2 CSN Philly:

Roy Oswalt didn’t seem all that happy about being lifted after five innings and 79 pitches, but the Phillies’ feeble offense gave manager Charlie Manuel little choice.  “I felt like it could be the last chance we had,” Manuel said.  The skipper was talking about his decision to pull Oswalt out of the on-deck circle and send rookie Domonic Brown to the plate with two outs and the bases loaded in the top of the sixth inning Wednesday afternoon.

Oswalt thought he had more left

June 2 Camden Courier-Post:

As has been the case since he returned from the disabled list on May 16, the beauty of Roy Oswalt’s start Wednesday was in the eye of the beholder.  On the plus side, he held Washington to just two runs over five innings and said he had a few more innings left in him had he not been yanked for a pinch hitter in the top of the sixth.

Victorino homers vs. Akron to complete rehab stint

June 2 CSN Philly:

Phillies centerfielder Shane Victorino went 1 for 3 with a home run and two RBIs Wednesday for Double A Reading, which beat Akron 12-9.  On the disabled list with a strained hamstring, Victorino played all nine innings in centerfield and hit leadoff.”
