Francisco, Ibanez lift Phillies

May 21 Camden Courier-Post:

“The future arrived in the Phillies’ clubhouse just a few hours before game time, shaking hands, hugging teammates and unpacking his belongings with the deliberate effort of a man who expects to call that locker home for another decade or so.  For a floundering offense, Domonic Brown brings hope. He is a hero without a resume.

Brown ready to get ‘back to work’

May 21 Camden Courier-Post:

Domonic Brown’s father already had plans to be in Pennsylvania this weekend to watch his son play, only the expectation was that Brown would be playing with Triple-A Lehigh Valley.  That was Brown’s expectation, at least. His father, Robert Walker, had other ideas.  “He was going to come to Lehigh and check me out, but he had a feeling I was going to get called up this weekend,” Brown said. “It’s kind of crazy.”

Phillies should show relief pitcher Danys Baez the door

May 20

“As bad as the Philadelphia Phillies’ offense has been lately, relief pitcher Danys Baez hasn’t been much better.  Although you know the Phillies’ potent lineup will eventually bounce back, something tells me the 33-year-old right-hander won’t.

Lee puts past where it belongs

May 21 Camden Courier-Post:

“If things had gone a bit differently, there’s a chance Cliff Lee would be starting tonight’s game wearing a Rangers uniform.  The lefty led Texas to a World Series appearance in 2010, and Texas made a sizeable offer to try to keep him in the fold this offseason. Instead, Lee turned down one former team to rejoin another, and he said he won’t be thinking about what might have been when he pitches against the Rangers tonight.
