Polanco still the only Phillie leading all-star vote

June 21 CSN Philly:

The latest round of All-Star voting was released Monday and several Phillies are in position to make their way to Phoenix for the July 12 midsummer classic.  Third baseman Placido Polanco looks like a lock to start at third base with a one million vote lead over Chipper Jones of the Atlanta Braves.  Both Chase Utley and Jimmy Rollins are third in voting at their respective positions.

Bastardo and Stutes valuable for Phillies

June 21 CSN Philly:

Mike Stutes was three years old when he picked up a baseball the first time.  Antonio Bastardo was 15.  Stutes has been playing organized sports for as long as he can remember. At Lake Oswego High School just outside of Portland, Ore., he was a three-year starter at quarterback and the star pitcher on a state championship baseball team. He was recruited by college baseball powerhouses all over the land and pitched on two national championship teams at Oregon State.

Lack of offense on road is still a big concern

June 21 Camden Courier-Post:

Before the team departed for the West Coast last week, Charlie Manuel predicted a low-scoring series in Seattle. Given the pitching the Mariners had going last weekend, it wasn’t that bold of a prediction, but Manuel also offered some reason for optimism.  “The ballpark is a big ballpark, and it’s definitely not a ballpark where it’s easy to hit a lot of home runs,” Manuel said.
