Lee, Phillies dominate Mets in shutout victory

First impression: The Phillies opened a six-game homestand with a Cliff Lee gem and 10-0 win over the New York Mets on Monday night. The Phils are 9-4 against the Mets this season. The Phils continue to lead the majors with an 82-44 record. The Mets have lost 10 of their last 12. Starting pitching report: Cliff Lee (14-7) held the Mets to three hits over seven shutout innings. He has not allowed a run in three of his four starts this month in lowering his ERA to 2.71. Lee has gone nine, eight and seven innings in those three starts. The lefty walked three and struck out seven Monday. He has 191 strikeouts on the season, a career-high, and the second-most in the National League.
Mets-Phillies still on; surgery for Contreras

Tonight’s game between the Phillies and Mets will be played as scheduled at 7:05 p.m. An inspection of Citizens Bank Park was conducted following the 5.9 magnitude earthquake that struck the East Coast Tuesday, and no evidence of any damage or distressed conditions to the building or systems were found. Vance Worley is scheduled to start for the Phils against Jon Niese. Ryan Howard, Raul Ibanez and Carlos Ruiz are not in the starting lineup. Howard is out with some heel bursitis and is listed as day to day.
Jimmy Rollins goes on DL with groin strain

Phillies shortstop Jimmy Rollins has been placed on the 15-day disabled list with a groin strain, and All-Star third baseman Placido Polanco has been activated from the DL. The moves were made before the major league-leading Phillies opened a three-game series against the New York Mets on Monday night. Rollins strained his right groin in a loss at Washington on Sunday. The former NL MVP had never been on the DL before 2008, but this is his fourth stint in four years.
